Questions
Do I need an account?
Yes. An account is what carries your subscription and your usage across a reinstall or a new phone — without one, deleting the app would reset everything. Sign-up is an email address and a password, confirmed by a six-digit code.
Why do you never send links in emails?
Because link scanners in corporate mail systems open single-use links before you do, and a link opens on whichever device read the mail rather than on your phone. Codes avoid both. It also means any email claiming to be us with a sign-in link is not from us.
What do you store about me?
Your email address, a hash of your password, and the text you type into the coach box or the meal box. Not your workouts, not your sets or weights, not your weigh-ins, not your name or date of birth — those stay on your phone. The privacy policy lists it item by item.
Do my meal photos get uploaded?
No. A meal photo stays on your device and is never sent anywhere. The words you type are sent so the app can estimate what was in the meal; the picture is not part of that and never becomes part of it.
Does it work without a signal?
The parts you use in a gym do. The library and its clips are bundled in the app, your calendar and history are on the phone, and logging sets needs no connection. Meal estimates need one — the text is recorded either way and the numbers arrive when you are back online.
Why are there no barbell exercises?
Because an app cannot see your form or help you rack a bar. The library is machines, cables, bodyweight and dumbbells. It is a limit we chose, not one we have not got round to.
Are the calorie numbers accurate?
They are estimates and the app says so every time it shows one. Where an Apple Watch measured your session, Vamos shows Apple's figure instead of its own. Meal estimates are rounded coarsely because the underlying error is wide — treat them as a rough guide.
Will it tell me how much to eat, or set a calorie target?
No, and it will not subtract what you ate from what you burned. That is a deliberate line: it is the difference between a food diary and a weight-loss product, and Vamos is the first one.
Is this medical advice?
No. Vamos suggests exercise. It is not medical advice, it does not diagnose anything, and automatically generated plans can be wrong. If you have a condition, an injury, or you are unsure whether exercise is safe for you, speak to a doctor first. The app asks seven health questions before your first plan for that reason.
What age do I need to be?
16 or over.
Can I use it without paying?
Yes, and indefinitely. Five plan generations to try, then the calendar, the library, manual entry, swap suggestions and per-set logging stay free. See pricing.
What happens to my history if I stop paying?
Nothing is deleted. Your sets and weights keep being recorded whether or not you subscribe — only the session summary is hidden, and every past session reappears the moment you subscribe again.
